City banks are trialling a new system which asks customers to verify their identities by taking selfies on their mobile phones linked to their social media accounts.
New York-based software developer Socure has created software called Perceive, which uses biometric verification to detect fraud.
It assess the person’s features in the picture taken by their phone, which generates a score, determining if the customer trying to make the payment is likely to be who they say they are.
